017.03 | An extensive School Situated below the North Church on the 1st Storey or basement, with a ply ground Attached, and is in Connexion with the North Free Church. The entire building was erected at the expense of the North Free Church Congregation, and at disruption, the Church became the property of the Town Council, but the School was retained by the Members of the free Church in as much as it was no part of the ecclesiastical building, it is Supported Solely by the voluntary Subscriptions from all denominations together with the School fees, there are three Certified female teachers who get the usual allowance from Government. Branches taught: reading, writing, arithmetic, Geography, Sewing, Knitting &c. Average attendance 120. |
