| River Carron (Continued) | [continued from page 41] The navigable part of this river has undergone considerable change during the past century. Formerly it was very crooked overflowed its banks and left waste a considerable area of valuable land; but since it was straightened, and strong embankments erected on both sides to improve its navigation; the land which it once flooded and left almost useless is now the most valuable land in the locality. This river during its course forms portions of the Boundaries of the parishes of Fintry; Campsie; Kilsyth; St. Ninians; Dunipace; Denny; Larbert; Falkirk; and Bothkennar. |

Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Stirling, which is in central Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
