"sea-coast, about half a mile north of the old castle of
"Dunure. The ruins of the church and churchyard still
"exist. It does not appear at what time the junction of
"the two parishes occurred, but it must have been prior to
" 1597, in December of which year the church of Maybole
"was finally separated from the Convent of North Berwick,
"and established as a rectory by act of parliament."
