007.03 | This formed part of the Original Church. would appear from the Report by the Lords of Commission for the plantation of Kirks dated 1622. The Report bears, "that there lived about 400 people in Galashiels; and so meikel the more as we (the Ministers of the adjoining Parish) find Ane house already there, well built, comely apparelled, and with small help, as is provided, may easily be made sufficient for the whole people in there most frequent assemblages." The Kirk was accordingly transplanted from Lindean to Galashiels for this farther reason, as given in the report, that the old Vicar's Church of Lindean had been abandoned for thirty years preceding. it is now used as a Burial place for the Scott family of Gala House. |

Ordnance Survey - Roxburgh county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Roxburgh, which is in the south east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
