076 | As the records in connection with this castle were burnt in the reign of James 1st (1427) the exact period of its erection is not known, but it is supposed to have been built about the 13th Century. It was repaired in 1513 and portions added to it in 1675 and 1762. About 26 years ago a fire occurred in the original portion of the Castle, leaving it a ruin, in which condition it still remains. It is occupied by and the property of Duncan Davidson esq. |
