"The hill of King's Seat 1178 feet above the level of the sea, is picturesquely situated on the side of the Ericht about 3 miles South from Mount Blair". New Statistical Account. The name Ericht in the above quotation should be Black Water as the river alluded to does not bear this name for several miles below this point. |

042 | A large circular Cairn of stones, Situated on the north east Slope of "Hill of Kingseat". It is about 70 feet in diameter and 3½ in height, the base surrounded by large Stones and the interior filled with small ones. No remains have been discovered in it, antiquity unknown. Duncan McLachlan considers the name to refer to the whitish Stones of which the cairn is composed reflecting light or throwing gleams under certain conditions of time and light. |
