053 | The only remains of this old building now to be seen, is a wall on the brink of the River Isla, its stands about 14 or 15 feet high and is grown over with ivy, about 10 links from the South end under the foundation, is a hole extending horizontally in for about 3 or 4 yards which a number of inhabitants suppose to be a Cave or the mouth of a subterraneous passage that had communicated with the fort on Barry Hill, But Mr. Lamond and a number of respectable inhabitants believe it to be nothing more than what had been a Sewer, or probably might have been a secret entrance from the cliff into the Castle, which would seem more likely.
