024.04 | A private bridge of three arches over the river clyde, erected by the late proprietor of Milton Lockhart Estate, in Carluke Parish. Formerly the estate was named "Milton", but upon the late proprietor - William Lockhart M.P. for Lanarkshire, purchasing it, he, in accordance with the conditions of a legacy, had to add the name "Lockhart" (his own) to the property purchased, hence the addition of "Lockhart to the Milton Estate, now named "Milton Lockhart Estate". There is a lodge and a gate having a tower over it on the Caluke side of the clyde. |

Ordnance Survey - Lanark county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Lanark, which is in the west of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
