018.14 | "Near the village of Larkhall, is a level piece of ground called Bowman's Flat or Vulgarly Bomflat, where, according to tradition, archery was formerly practised". New Statistical Account. This name now applies to three fields between (east) "Croft" and the house called "Bomflat", or "Bowmans Flat". The "Flat" and its origin are well known. All personal authorities remember the field before it was divided as at present. The "Flat" portion of this field does not extend more 250 links south of a fence, from which distance to the south of the field the ground gradually declines. The fields and the house are commonly called "Bomflat". They are the property of Captain McNeil Hamilton of Raploch |

Ordnance Survey - Lanark county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Lanark, which is in the west of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
