It is the intention of Captn [Captain]
James R. E. [Royal Engineers] to have all the
Roman Roads of the County of Edin
-burgh, traced when Dry proofs of
the County sheets will be received
from O.M.O. [Ordnance Mapping Office] Therefore the Roman
Road which is supposed to have
passed through Leith is not yet
inserted on plan, with the expectation
that further information will be
obtained, when research is being
made for the other roads of the

Ordnance Survey - Midlothian county

Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Midlothian, which is in the east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
