| HARBOUR [Sarclet] | Harbour | George Anderson, Sarclet, John Anderson - Sarclet James Ogg Sarclet |
030 | Situated opposite the extreme end of the County Road, which passes through the village of "Sarclet" and about a stones throw from its end. Enclosed on all sides by a rocKy face, and high broKen banK at the end. It was erected as it at present stands, about the Year 1830. Is in excellent repair, and has been well constructed, by strong Moles and protective piers at the entrance, with sloping masonry towards the sea, which completely resist the action of the waves. Shortly after it was constructed there was an average fleet of fishing boats to the amount of 35, a few of these being of large size, they are now reduced to about 24 all sizes. There is a want of beaching ground at the end, which is the means of curtailing the number of large boats used at the summer fishing. Property. of Frederick StocKs Bently Innes Esqr of Thrumster. |
