This name is applied to the ruins of an old Castle A farm containing about 56 acres of land at present held by the farmer of Coreholm Hill derived its name from the Castle - Castle Clanyard in old times was the residence of a family the name of Gordon, a collateral branch of the house of Kenmare which were the proprietors of this district - the part of the walls of the castle which are still standing are of an immence thickness - the houses adjoining the castle had been the farm steading they are now in a state of indifferent repair and are occupied by farm labourers. - The property of Col. [Colonel] McDowall of Logan. |
