017 | [Situation] 1/4 mile east of Glenluce on the Road to Newtonstewart. - The name of some houses &c on the Newtonstewart Road and near the Lady Burn, It at present consists of 3 dwelling houses a Woollen Manufactory or Dying Mill where the home made country Cloths are Dyed and finished off. There is also Machinery for the Grinding Potato in the manufacture of Farina . The name appears to have been derived from the fact of a Lint or Flax Mill having been here for a number of Years. The Ruins of which are still standing.- The property of the Earl of Stair. |
