what he originally collected was "Clachual"
said to be pronounced "Clackwell"
The Examr. [Examiner] appears to have
given nearly the pronunciation
and Dr. [Doctor] Joass suggested Allt na Cloich'-aoil " burn of the limestone" which was adopted. But the
Examiner applied the name to the wrong stream.
Ault Clacharie
This name has nearly the same
meaning "burn of the stone Shieling"
as Allt na Clach-bhuaile
