Druim Meadhonach | Druim Meadhonach Druim Meadhonach |
D. McIntyre Shepherd J. Buchanan Shepherd |
014.06 | This is a Gaelic name & signifies the mid or intermediate ridge of a hill. It is understood to be the mid ridge of the heights of "Bad Ochainaich" & "Leachd na Cloiche", though there is certainly no connection whatever between the range or ridge & "Leachd na Cloiche" a stream to which both falls fairly separating the hills. This ridge is connected with "Bad Ochainaich" as shewn by yellow dots on Trace, the names of both "Bad Ochainaich" and "Druim Meadhonach", being confined to the tops of the objects to which they belong. The former ("Bad Ochainaich") is well defined and the north-eastern top is considerably higher than the ridge of "Druim Meadhonach" which joins it there. The ridge is not or remarkable nor at no part so high as the features with which the name signifies a connection. |

Ordnance Survey - Stirling county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Stirling, which is in central Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
