This name applies to a ridge, the top of which forms the watershed of the Black Isle, It runs through nearly all the Parishes situated within it also, it extends from Poyntzfield on the north east to within a short distance of Tarradale on the south west, and is principally under young growing Fir plantations, The Principal proprietors being, D. Forbes esq. of Culloden, Captain J. D. MacKenzie of Mountgerald Sir K. MacKenzie of Belmaduthy and others.
