The parish of Urquhart and Logie Wester is in the Presbytery of Dingwall, and Synod of Ross. Patron A.C.Forbes, of Culloden. It is bounded on the north west by the River Conan and Cromarty Firth, which separates it from Fodderty, Dingwall and Kiltearn; on the north and east by Resolis; on the east by Avoch, Kilmuir Wester & Suddie, and Killearnan (Detd.); [Detached] on the south east by Killearnan, and on the south and south west by Urray. The parish comprises three districts. Urquhart forms the northeastern, Logie Wester the south western, and the well known detached district of Nairnshire, called Ferrintosh forms the centre of the parish. There are no detached portions of this parish and there are no detached portions of any other parish situated within it, but as stated above the district of Ferrintosh forms a detached part No. [Number] 5 of the County of Nairn. Please see Correspondence at the end of this book referring to this subject. The districts of Urquhart, Logie Wester, & Ferrintosh are now obsolete, and the three ancient districts are now known for all purposes as the Parish of "Urquhart and Logie Wester", the centre portion being in the Co. [County] Nairn (Detd) [Detached] |
