| HARBOUR [Invergordon] | Invergordon Harbour Invergordon Harbour |
Mr Donald Munro, Merchant. Mr Alexander Philips, Piermaster |
066 | Two stone piers between the high and low water marks the western one of which is bent at right angles eastward so as to form nearly a square, with the exception of the opening which is sufficiently large to admit the largest coasting schooners that trade with the port. At springs tides the harbour is dry to the end of the stone work of the piers, but there has been two wooden jetties added which project into the water. Constructed in 1825. "A few years ago, a fine pier for large vessels was also erected, a wooden jetty was, last year added to the pier, with a view to command 10 feet water at ebb-tide, but from the absurd manner in which it was constructed it has, since its erection been found to be of not the smallest use" Extract from New Statistical Account. - 1838. Property of Eneas McLeod Esqr. Cadboll |
