012.02 | A large and Substantial Building two Storeys high, Slated and in good repair, Situated in New Sneddon Street and Cart Lane. The Object of this School is to educate & reclaim neglected and destitute Children and Juvenile Criminals, And to provide them With Board And Lodging:- There is a Male teacher, who Also Acts as Superintendent, a Matron & Master Shoemaker Connected With this School. One half the teacher's and Matron's Salaries are Paid by Government, as Well as a Stipulated Sum P [Per] week for each Juvenile Criminal; With the exception of this Government grant, it is Solely Supported by Annual Voluntary Contributions. The Boys receive a Plain English education and are also taught Shoemaking. The Girls not only receive a Plain English education but are also instructed by the Matron in Plain needle & household Work and are also trained to useful branches of economy & industry._ the institution is under the management of a Board of Directors. The Average Attendance is 100 __ |
