| Site of MURRAY'S CAIRN | Murray's Cairn Murray's Cairn Murray's Cairn |
Mr. Peter Ferguson Revd. [Reverend] James Walker Mr. Alexander McDuff |
107 | The site of an ancient cairn, not a vestige of which remains at present it was removed to build dykes &c. Tradition says that this cairn was raised over the grave of a man of the name Murray. It would appear that a feud existed between Murray and John the Bangster who resided in his house not far distant. From his residence Bangster is said to have shot Murray with an arrow and that he (Murray) was buried there where the cairn was, from which circumstance the name is derived. |

Ordnance Survey - Perth county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Perth, which is in central Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
