Thomas Ross Esqr. Mr D. McFarlane Mr John Clarke New Statistical Account |
108 | A small eminence situated in a wood on the north side of the Roman Road, and not far distant from the principal entrance to Gask House "The place, from time immemorial, has been called the "Witch Knowe," and the traditionary account is, that witches were burned there, and, as vestiges of coal cinders are to be seen, the probability is that, some people were put to death on that eminence. In the same place was lately found a small urn of coarse worKmanship, which would contain about three English pints. It was about two and a half feet below the surface." See Statistical acct. Ordnance Survey - Perth county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Perth, which is in central Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
