"From this spring (Coldwells) an abundant supply of water is conveyed in a large pipe to St James' Square, in the middle of which stands a plain but handsome structure, enclosing a cistern where the water discharges itself. This building, which forms the centre both of the square and of the town, and which is shaded by some very fine lime trees, is an object of considerable local beauty; and most of the wells that are distributed over the west and south quarters of the town, are supplied by pipes that communicate with this reservoir." Ordnance Survey - Perth county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Perth, which is in central Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
