063 | A remarkable earthen rampart or dyke running through the Woods of Meiklour from Deuhead as far south-east as Muirale house on the farm of Littleour, where all evidence of it is lost on the ground, and it is not in the memory of any person now living of having seen it any farther. It is perfectly straight as far as we can trace it but Knox in his map shews it extending in a straight line from the point at Deuhead to the Praetorium which is incorrect as it lies some distance within the Camp, and not in a straight line with the dike (see Description of the Praetorium) At equal distance on each side of the dike, is a ditch apparently where the rampart has been thrown up from, it is in height from 6 to 8 links & about 50 links broad at least - According to the |
