075 | A large Mound, evidently the remains of a fortress or Stronghold for the storage of grain. It is not a Brough. A Solid Stone wall encircles the north half of the mound at the foot or bottom. It is situsated midway between the farm dwellings of Newbigging and Doocastle and about 1/4 of a mile north west of Pierowall. Note. All the names on this Sheet are on the property of Colonel David Balfour of Balfour and Trenabie. |
