It is preserved, as it stands in a shrubbery, south of the Mausoleum, for its age & beauty. The exact age of it is not known, but it is generally believed to be 200 years of age. "The oat Hill, where once justice was dispensed, a curious stone cross with wavy mystical inscriptions, and an old carved Gateway are sole relics of the Netherton." - Brown's Directory. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Lanark, which is in the west of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
