018.13 | This is a ruin in the form of a square having part of the walls & the foundations standing. The latter are represented on Trace by a dotted line, the former, the walls, by a firm thick line. This is, upon the authorities here quoted, the remains of an Ancient Castle. About 30 years ago the people of the neighborhood destroyed other parts of it by digging in search of a Gold Bull said to have been hidden beneath the ruins. No accounts of the Parish that have een seen make mention of this Castle, which is well known in the Parish. |

Ordnance Survey - Lanark county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Lanark, which is in the west of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
