Crawfordjohn
28th April 1858
Sir
Would you have the goodness to inform me if any remains have been found at the old Camp the site of which is near Sheriffcleugh to justify it being called a Roman Camp. - or if you think it merely a Druidical Circle or the site of a Cairn.
James Kennedy
Corpl [Corporal] R.E. [Royal Engineers]
T R Scott Esq

In this locality have been found the blade of a sword thought to be Roman - and a seal finely cut, with the head of one of the Emperors.

Ordnance Survey - Lanark county

Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Lanark, which is in the west of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
