[It is] apparently one of the ancient [moats] which antiquarians consider [to] have been places of [judicial] assembly. although now [seems] to have Some connection with [Lincluden] College yet it is evident [that it] must have been constructed long [prior] to that building, but it appears to have been used as a sort of ornamental ground by the owners of the above building [with] traces resembling a Spiral passage or path ascending to the Summit may yet be traced around it |
