012 | The following extracts is taken from the New St: [Statistical] Account:- In the year 1747 Mr John Raining of Norwich bequested ₤1000 for building and endowing a school in any part of the Highlands The General Assembly should appoint . The Assembly fixed on Inverness, and soon afterwards developed the management of school on the Society of Propagating Christian Knowledge, transferring the residue of the money of that body. The school, a spacious building is supported by the Founder's Bequest and school fees. |
