Sir,
In further reference to your letter of 13th October, I am desired by Colonel Cooke to inform you that from enquiries which have been made, he has decided to adopt Fros bheinn, on the Ordnance plans, as the name of the hill about which you wrote. The mode in which you say the name is now generally spelt appears to be a corruption of that given above, but the omission on the plan of "Am", as not essential, will tend to assimilate the name phonetically to that which is now used.
I am,
Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
A. M. Scott
L.Col
H. Blackburn Esqre. [esquire]

Ordnance Survey - Inverness county

Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Inverness, which is in the north of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
