002 | A Field of Pasture land on the Farm of Newhouse, Said to have been the place where a Portion of the Army of Edward 1st emcamped when he besieged Dirleton Castle after his Invasion of Scotland in 1298. Several stone coffins, Bones etc have, from time to time, been dug up in this Field. Judging from the Name and the above mentioned remains there probably was a church in this locality; but there is no tradition to that effect extant. |
