Trace of North Berwick

In the Several accounts of
N. [North] Berwick there is a notice
that the Old parish Church
was dedicated to St. Andrew.
At present there is the
remains of an Old Church
nearly adjoining the harbour
on the north side of the
town. Will you make
enquiry and ascertain whether
this is the ruins of St Andrew's
Church or of the old parish
Church. Are there any
records existing belonging
to the town or parish pertaining
to this Old Church?
Are there any traditions
in the locality as to whether
this is the ruins of Andrew's
Church?
This was referred several weeks
ago to the Revd. [Reverend] Mr. Graham
but he has returned no answer
You are therefore to make particular
research and state on the
margin whatever information
you can get. Sent herewith the trace

This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of East Lothian, which is in the east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
