Says the last names Authority, was
built about 150 years ago, before the
building of it, the remains of the old
Catholic Chapel, Situated near the
harbour, "done duty" as a Parish
Church - And possibly may have been
dedicated to St Andrew. but in
the Kirk session records, Or those
belonging to the burgh, it is not
(as before described) Mentioned as
having been dedicated to St Andrew
As it has been ascertained that this 'Auld Kirk' was
the parish church about 150 years ago and as the old
parish church was dedicated to St Andrews, See Chal-
mers Caledonia. There is also tradition that the family
burying place of the Lauders of the Bass who are mentioned in connection
with it is marked in the old Grave yard by a large Stone
See Stat. Acct. [Statistical Account]. Therefore the old church must evidently be
St. Andrews church and as it was also the parish church
Therefore St. Andrews or North Berwick Church (Remains
of) to be written on plan

Ordnance Survey - East Lothian county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of East Lothian, which is in the east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
