The Parish of Guthrie is divided into two parts one of which lies between six and seven miles Southwest of the other and which is often termed Kirkbuddo. The part more particularly referred to here is the Northern Division which is bounded on the North by Aberlemno and Kinnel Parishes, on the East by Kirkden (detached) and Kinnel, on the South by Kirkden and on the West by Kirkden Rescobie and Aberlemno. There is no detached part of another Parish situated within the limits here assigned to the Northern division. It measures in extreme length from North to South about two miles and in extreme breadth from West to East, about three miles, and its area has been computed at 2,390 acres. The soil though rather poor is however well cultivated and pleasantly sheltered with wood. About four hundred acres in the N.En.
