This Object Name Book records the
information collected for the authorisation
of names in the parish of Airlie at the
time of the survey for the 1st Edition 25"
map in 1861.
The entries in red ink on page 53-4
are by Major Bayley, R.E. [Royal Engineers], who was inter-
ested in archaeology, and mainly responsible
for recording the Roman fort on the map.
The tiles (p.53) suggest the presence
of a bath-house nearby; but the exact site
is not recorded.
