037 | A small portion of an old road raised about 1½ feet above the level of the adjacent ground. It is what the Authorities here quoted say is the only remains of the Roman road which had led from a Camp at Cardean to the Camp at Battledykes. "Some remains of the great Roman Road which ran east from this Encampment (at Cardean) along the hollow of Strathmore, are also still visible: There are about 500 yards of it in good preservation in the eastern part of this parish commencing in a plantation on the farm Reidie and stretching along some moor ground on the lands of Auchindory." From Cupar the Roman Road took a N.E. [North East] direction towards Reedie
in the parish of Airly - On the south of this hamlet the vestiges of the
Road again appear, and for more than ½ mile the ancient road forms the modern way.
