045 | [Situation] In the south end of the parish. A substantial dwelling house two storeys high, with arable and moor-land attatched, the property of Lord Panmure. About 1/4 mile north from this farm house (and on this farm), a man named William Clarke, when building a dyke or wall, between 30 and 40 years ago, found, a couple of feet below the surface, an urn containing some fragments of burnt bones. He broke the urn before getting it up, having unkowingly struck it with his shovel. William Clarke resides in the cottar houses attached to Carnegie farm. The spot where the urn was found is marked on trace 4. 45.11. |
