045 | [Situation] In the SW. [South West] corner of the parish A small thatched cottage with a few acres of land the property of Lord Panmure. About 1/2 a mile South West from these houses (on trace 2) Mr. David Hume of East Skichen, when excavating a hillock, found several rude Stone Coffins a couple of feet below the surface. Fragments of human bones were in them, and inside one was an urn containing fragments of burnt human bones. These Coffins &c. Mr. Hume discovered about 30 years ago. |

"In a small sandy hillock on the same farm "(Skichen)" there was discovered a few years ago
another coffin of a similar description about 3 feet below the surface containing an urn
of the rudest workmanship. Some black mould was found in the urn but no trace
