Sir, With reference to your remarks on the accompanying name sheet relating to the Cat Stane I beg to state that the object is not a stone of memorial nor is it a fallen Single stone, neither is it considered by the most intelligent persons in the neigbourhood to be an antiquity - it is simply a rock having a natural seat and had it not been for the circumstance referred to in the descriptive remarks would probably not be noticed or named. [Signed] J. Morgan C.A. [countersigned] Capt. [Captain] Bayly R.E. [ Royal Engineers]

Ordnance Survey - Fife and Kinross counties

Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the counties of Fife in the east of Scotland and Kinross in central Scotland. The boundaries of these counties were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
