[situation] On the N. [North] side of Nether Street. An old house in very good repair erected [in] 1692 by Mr. John Watson who at that time was the owner of the Dunnikier Estate. " To the east of Kirkcaldie upon a rising ground is the house & village of Dinniekier" Sibbald's Hist. [History] p [obscured] In the New Statl. Acct. [Statistical Account] it is stated that "the house was long inhabited by the family of Dunnikier" p 139. A new house now called Dunnikier house at some distance from the old one, was erected by James Townsend Oswald Esqr. which is now the residence of the proprietor of the Dunnikier Estate. |
