The site of this Chapel [stood] in Niddry's Wynd [previous] chapel being removed to [where] now situated ie. Burnets [Wynd] which was about the time [that] Wynd was widened and the [---] changed to that of Street, The site of the chapel according to informants was situated a [little] north of Where Doctor Bell's [School] now stands Maitland says [---] history, On the eastern side of [---] Wynd it situated St Mary's chapel "[---] in 1504 by Elizabeth Countess of Ross and was dedicated to the Virgin Mary" A present it is the Hall of the Wrights and masons and the upper part is "occupied" [by] Musical Society who hold their WeeKly Concerts therein, This chapel appears on several maps of Edinburgh |
