"on the eastern side of Niddry's Wynd is situated St Marys
chapel which by the charter of foundation of the 31st of December
and 1504 appears to have been founded by Elizabeth Countess
of Ross and to have been so denominated from its dedication
to the virgin Mary. At present it is the hall belonging to
the Wrights & masons and the upper part is employed by the musical
Society who hold their weeKly Concerts therein"
