The names of the boroughs of Easter Portsburgh, Wester Portsburgh , and that of Canongate are not written on Plans, except with Pencil on account of not Knowing what character of writing to be used, as these boroughs do not properly come under the head of "boroughs returning members" nor that of "boroughs not retuning members" but are subordinate parts of the Borough of Edinburgh or in some degree burghs of barony of which the corporation of Edinburgh is the baron or [superior]. Therefore it is requested that [ ]may be stated what character is to be [used] in writing these names on Plans
- and Equi [ ] that these names be written on the Plans at ?
