The farm probably derives its name from a bog immediately to the east of the steading, which had been a lake before property drained There is a dwellinghouse with carpenters workshop and other premises to the west of the steading of Lochenlee, which receives the same name in consequence of being on the farm. - If the name be derived from the bog formerly a lake then it should spelt Lochanlea. - Lee signifies - shelter.
