Revd [Reverend] John Wilson. Mr Robert Mitchell. Mr Duffus. Mr John Tough. |
044 | About sixty years ago when the county road was being made, Mr Mitchell, father of the present Mr Mitchell of Wellside, had the contract for carting sand &c. which he took from the Husband Hillock, and in digging the sand, he came upon two stone cists, each containing an Urn, in which were small pieces of bones and portions of black earth. Mr Mitchell say's his grandfather could remember when there were seven standing stones here, each about four feet high, and placed in a circle. I have not called them a "stone circle" as I can find no person in the parish who knows, or has ever heard of them, with the exception of the present Mr Mitchell of Wellside. |

Parish of Premnay
[Note beside 'Cists and Urns found here']
Note. As it is more than probable that a Stone Circle did stand here formerly, I have written "site of Stone Circle" on Plan to mark the spot.

Ordnance Survey - Aberdeen county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Aberdeen, which is in the north east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
