023 | THis was formerly a Brewery until about 1826 when it was purchased and fitted up as a Chapel by the Wesleyan Methodist, and used as such until about 1832 when it was sold to the present proprietor Revd. [Reverend] John Mearns and was used as a chapel by the Independents and from 1836 to 1845 again by the Wesleyan Methodists. It then fell into disuse as a Chapel but was occupied as a dwelling house and handloom factory. It has lately been unoccupied and is in a very delapidated state of repair. This chapel is to be repaired shortly. |
