065 ; 066 ; 074 ; 075 | A parish in Aberdeenshire, situated about five miles north-west of the city of Aberdeen. It is bounded on the east by the river Don & the parish of Old-Machar. On the north by the parish of Dyce. North-west by Kinellar. west by Skene and on the south by the parishes of Peterculter and Banchory Davenick. It is about five miles broad & about the same in length, and is irregular in form. The general appearance of the country is hilly & towards the west becomes mountainous, but it is nearly all under cultivation. In the parish are several extensive mills, for the manufacture of paper, wollen goods, and grinding corn; also, several large granite quarries. The principal proprietors are James Gordon Hay Esqr of Seaton House, Old Aberdeen, The Aberdeen King's College Mortification Fund, and the Trustees of the late Dr [Doctor] Scott of Craibstone.
