011 | A superior farmhouse & offices. The property of the Rt. [Right] Hon. [Honourable] James, Earl of Fife. It derives this name from a castellated residence which formerly stood here, was of no historical note. A stone in one of the Offices bears the date "1716", said to be the year of its erection. It had no connection with the family seat of the proprietors of the Auchry Estate. Tradition States that it was built & occupied by one Patrick Con, who, having erected the Castles of Delgaty, and Craigston, received a grant of land from the proprietors of these Castles, they being unable to pay him in money for his work. upon this grant the said castellated residence stood, not a vestige of which now remains |
