042 | A cairn on the Southern Slope of the Corse of Laigh, forming a point on the Parish Boundary. Popular tradition assigns this Cairn as the tomb of a maiden, who belonged to Auchinleith, and who being attached to a neighbouring farmer's son, quarrelled with him and deliberately committed felo de se. Persons at that period being guilty of this crime; were not allowed by the laws of the Country to be interred in the Churchyard. The said maiden was carried here for interment. |
