051 | A rude stone Coffin or Cist, was found here about 40 years ago - by the farmer. while ploughing the ground. it was lying within about a foot of the surface. and measured about 4 ½ feet long by 2 feet broad and about 18 inches deep. and was Constructed of unhewn stones at the sides. Ends. top & bottom and contained ashes, or Calcined Clay and some bones. no remains of this Cist or what it Contained has been preserved The Cist was placed longitudinally East & west. |
