It is recorded was Established by the Marques of Argyle whilst a leader of the Covenanters in 1644. Campfold it is Said was known for a long period by another name The "Scourge Camp" Upon the property of the Earl of Aberdeen "One of Argyll's encampents also on the lands of Ardlogie is still Called Campfold."
